My name is Ahone Lane and I am a final year BA English student at Bournemouth University, currently delving into all things news, journalism and equality.

Currently my microblog will be focused on the area of crime journalism, looking specifically at discourse surrounding injustice and political framing. This will involve exploring different factors that come into play when reporting crime and related incidents, such as gender, ethnicity, age, and class, to name a few — as well as areas such as victimisation, sensationalism, representation, and agenda framing.

I will be taking a look at a variety of channels, such as social media, print and online newspapers, and citizen journalism — in addition to topics like racism, and sexual assault.

From these discussions, I aim to present an honest view of how news media can contribute towards an array of inequalities in society, giving an insight into the changes I feel need to be made within the industry to prevent injustice.

Be sure to check out and follow my social media profiles on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram to keep up to date with my commentary on the world of crime journalism!
